Dale R. Lee, 85, Wausau died Thursday, November 12, 2015 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born December 28, 1929 in Towner, North Dakota, son of the late Norman and Fern (Ellingson) Lee. On April 26, 1952 he married Mabel Meilahn at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2010.
Dale was a truck driver for Neuendorf Trucking for more than 20 years. After truck driving he went to work for Aspirus Wausau Hospital doing internal distribution for 17 years. Some of his favorite pastimes included golfing, bowling, hunting and playing Bingo and cards. Most special to Dale's heart was spending time with his children who called him "The King" as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grandpa Goose".
Survivors include his children, Beth (Bill) Zerneke, Denise Lee, Edina, Minnesota, Andrew (Kelly) Lee and Marsha (Tom) Blaschka, both of Wausau, his son-in-law, Mike VanderLeest, Wausau, nine grandchildren, Delaine (Tom) Glaze, Brad (Dawn) Zerneke, Daniel (Kate) Koskey, Jenny (B.J.) Buss, Dayle (Karley) VanderLeest, Brian (Amanda) Blaschka, Anna VanderLeest, Ben (Rachel) Lee and Amanda (Nick) Hoeft; 15 great grandchildren, Ryan, Alissa, Samantha, Ellie, Loren, Calvin, Kinzey, Parker, Angelina, Bret, Alora, Calvin, Alexis, Eleanor and Jack and one sister-in-law, Gwenith Lee, Moorhead, Minnesota.
Besides his parents and his wife Dale was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan VanderLeest, one grandson, Andrew Lee and his siblings, Byron, Jack and Russell.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 North Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Theodore Gulhaugen will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
