Dale A. Dabbert

Dale A. Dabbert 89, Wausau, died Weds. December 22, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born June 11, 1921, in Dancy, son of the late Grace Dabbert. On March 5, 1946, he married Mary Keller in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He met his future wife on a blind date in San Francisco. A veteran of World War II, Dale served with the US Marine Corps and participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed for 24 years with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department. Among his favorite things to do were fishing, hunting and sailing. He also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his two children, Dennis (Susan) Dabbert, Mosinee, Julie (Rick) Halder, Gleason, three grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Augustine, Hatley, Brandon Dabbert, Mosinee, Ryan (Stephanie) Dabbert, Bloomington, Ind., four great grandchildren, Ashley, Alexis and Aiden Augustine and Lily Dabbert. Besides his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Herman Pieper. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 28, 2010 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home.
