Dale Bouvat, 63, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 8, 1952 in Wausau, son of the late John and Alice (Koch) Bouvat. Survivors include his wife, Julie Bouvat, Rothschild, his children, Leah (Chad) Pester, Jacksonville, Florida and Sarah (fiancAC. Will McCollum) Bouvat, Green Bay, four grandchildren, Isabella and Mason Pester and Sonja and Esalee McCollum, one brother, Dennis (Lisa) Bouvat, Plymouth and one sister, Sue (Tom) Domka, Wausau and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard and his companion, Shadow.
Dale graduated from Wausau East High School in 1971. He met the love of his life, Julie in 1974 and 11 months later married her on August 23, 1975. Dale started his working career in high school at St. Mary's Hospital, which is now Aspirus Wausau Hospital. His profession began by working the loading docks and after 44 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2012. Most of his career with the hospital was spent in Purchasing/Materials Management. In all aspects of his life, Dale was a results-driven leader. This awarded him continuous promotions at the hospital, as well as an abundance of success with family, friends and passions. He will always be remembered as a devoted and caring colleague and family man.
Dale enjoyed many extra curricular activities, most of which were sports. He belonged to the hospital softball league, played tennis, racquetball, curling, bowling, dart ball, and was an avid golfer. His passion was golf, where he participated in several leagues and enjoyed traveling to courses in Wisconsin and Florida. His greatest golf accomplishment was in 2013 when he hit a hole in one!
He was a meticulous handyman and could build or fix anything he set his mind to. He renovated nearly the entire home he and Julie shared for 25 years. Dale also loved cars, especially his prized 1977 Corvette which he helped restore. He enjoyed many activities related to his love for cars, such as going to stock car races in Wausau and several NASCAR races. Dale and Julie also traveled Wisconsin attending car shows. His 1977 Corvette was to be showcased in the Iola car show in 2015.
In his retirement he golfed, worked in the yard, volunteered at the Marathon County Historical Society, and travelled to Florida frequently, where he hoped to move to some day. When the weather was nice you could always find Dale outdoors.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hamied Razazadeh and the staff at Aspirus Cancer Center, the Wausau Manor staff, and the Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice staff for the outstanding care and support they provided to Dale and his family.
