Cyril L. Guden

Cyril L. Guden 95, Athens, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Continental Manor, Abbotsford. He was born July 12, 1912 in Marshfield, son of the late John and Kathryn (Kloss) Guden. On September 27, 1937, he married Helen Markee in Bessemer, Michigan. She preceded him in death on October 13, 1977. In his younger years, Cyril farmed in Auburndale and then moved with his family to Ohio, where he worked as an over the road truck driver. In 1946 he moved back to Auburndale to farm, then to Athens in 1951 where he farmed until 1969. Cyril and his family then moved into the village of Athens, where he worked in construction, until his retirement. Among his many interests, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and putting together puzzles. Survivors include, eight children, Kenneth (Rita) Guden, Chippewa Falls, Ruth Ann (Dave) Augustine, Athens, Donald (Marlene) Guden, Marshfield, Ray (Charlotte)Guden, Rib Mountain, Mary (Edward) Nowicki, Athens, Allan (Beckie) Guden, Medford, David (Jan) Guden, Athens and Sharon (Gary) Miller, Marathon; 28 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ed, Irvin, Art and Martin; and three sisters, Helen, Viola and Jenny. The memorial mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic School. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.
