Cynthia M. Nikolaus-Rogers, 54, Wausau passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at REM Wisconsin after seven long years of illness. The Lord has taken Cynthia home to be with him. She was born May 17, 1959 in Wausau, daughter of Elizabeth (Marx) Nikolaus, Rothschild and the late Joseph Nikolaus . On April 25, 1987 she was united in marriage to Howard Rogers at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. He survives. Cynthia was in the class of 1978 at D.C. Everest High School. She went on to the University of WI Marathon County and pursued a career in nursing. She then went on to the University of Milwaukee to further her education in nursing. She also went to Mequon to get her degree as a medical assistant. Cynthia worked for a doctor in Milwaukee before returning to Wausau and joining the medical office of Dr. Davis and Dr. Bacoun. She traveled to places like Virginia Beach and Sicily, Italy with her husband while he was serving in the United States Navy. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and will always be remembered for having a smile on her face for everyone. Cindy had a great love for nature, especially going for long walks and enjoying what Mother Nature was bringing forth for us to enjoy. She had a passion for cross stitching, crocheting items for herself and others and making cards for every season and all other occasions. Cindy is survived by her husband, Howard Rogers, her mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Nikolaus, Rothschild, her brothers, Joseph Jr. (Sandy) Nikolaus, Missouri and their children, Tricia (Chris) Cress and Joseph Nikolaus; Charles (Susan) Nikolaus, Montana and their children, Charles and Misty; Jeffrey (Dina) Nikolaus, Maryland and their children, Jeffrey (fiancAC. Shanna) Nikolaus and Theresa (AJ) Bell, a great niece and nephew, Kyle and Leann and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, a sister-in-law, Linda Bridges and a brother-in-law, Bernard (Carolyn) Rogers and many other relatives and friends. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, grandparents, Joseph and Theresa Nikolaus and John and Margaret Marx and her mother and father-in-law, Howard and Gaetana Howard Rogers Sr. and a sister-in-law, Mildred Forrester. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 1, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Catholic Church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
