Cornelia 'Toots' King
89, Hatley, passed away Friday September 7, 2001 at her home, surrounded by her family, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born November 20, 1911, daughter of the late John Sr. and Lillian (Barnowski) Nowinsky. On November 12, 1940 she was united in marriage with Ambrose C. King. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2001.
Toots had been employed as a secretary in the family business, J.H. Nowinsky Trucking, Hatley. She was a full time wife and mother, and was a wonderful cook, especially her rhubarb pie and crazy cake. Among her favorite pasttimes were playing bingo, knitting and reading. She was a member of the St. Florian Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose and the Birthday Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Keith) Knudson, Wausau, LeeAnn (Steven) Nyberg, Wausau and Debbe (Jef) Ostrowski, Hatley, her grandchildren, Laura Davis & fiance Eric Roberts, Jason & Kris Davis, Alexis Komula-Lucas & James Lucas, Molly & Rob Schultz, Seth, Vince & Sam Ostrowski and one great-granddaughter, Zelda Komula.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eloy, Harold, Audrix and Donald Nowinsky and her great-granddaughter, Hazel Komula and grandson, Bruce Komula.
She will be sadly missed by her family and all those who loved her.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday September 11, 2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Burial will be in St. Florian Cemetery, Hatley. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
