Conrad J. Zibton
90, 2901 N. 7th Street., Wausau died Sunday, August 15, 2004 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born November 3, 1913 in Chicago, son of the late John and Helen (Lukaszewski) Zbikowski. On November 6, 1937, he married Sally Wiezor in Chicago. She survives.
For many years, Conrad had been employed at R.R.Donnelly Printing, Chicago. His positions included Plant Layout and Design, Estimator, Carpenter, and he retired as Plumbing Department Supervisor. After retirement, the Zibton's resided in Bradenton, Florida before moving to Wausau in 1992. Prior employments during and after the years of the Great Depression included, steel worker, railroad worker and meat cutter.
Among his hobbies and interests were stamp collecting, and annual fishing trips to Canada. He also served as a Junior Achievement Counselor, Boy Scout Councilman and Altar Server in the Latin Rite.
He served in the Army National Guard.
He was the beloved husband of, Sally Zibton, Wausau, and he is further survived by, two sons, David (Donna) Zibton, Wausau and Paul Zibton, Seattle, Wash., three grandchildren, Maureen (Michael) Cyrs, Belvidere, IL, Craig (Paula) Zibton, Waukesha, Jeffrey (Kelly) Zibton, Rothschild, six great grandchildren, one sister, Harriet Berent, Wayland, Mich., one sister-in-law, Adeline Zibton, Calumet City, Ill., along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Conrad was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Alfred and one sister, Jeanette August.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
