Clyde Roehrdanz, 86, Wausau, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Harmony Living Center.
He was born in West Bend, Wisconsin, the son of the late Walter and Gertrude (nee Held) Roehrdanz. He served as a Corporal for the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II, from 1942-1946. He proudly served his country in the South Pacific on the islands of New Guinea, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Peleliu, Palau, Okinawa, Ryukyu, and North China Tientsin.
After the war Clyde returned to Wisconsin and married his 'best girl' Julie in 1946. They had four children and raised them in Madison and Schofield, WI. Clyde worked for the Washington County Sheriff's department in West Bend and for the State Patrol in both Madison and Wausau.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Prewitt of NE; three sons, Brian of MN, Scott of CA, and Jon of Wausau; and his sister Doris Schneiss of West Bend. Clyde had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Julie (Bozuric) Roehrdanz, his sister-in-law Millie Bozuric, 2 brother's-in-law Donald Schneiss and Martin Bozuric.
Clyde loved hunting, fishing, reading and spending time on the lake with his family and friends. He looked forward each year to the annual Marine Corps birthday and attending the local celebration, made possible by family friend and fellow Marine, Ron Feit.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Harmony Living Center and to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 21, 2009 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield, WI where following the service the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10 will perform military rites. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice of Wausau.
