Claudene B. Fisher

June 30, 1953 — December 30, 2003

Claudene B. Fisher 50, 908 River St., Schofield, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born June 30, 1953 in Wausau, daughter of Gilbert and Goldie (Laabs) Passow, Lake Tomahawk. On September 30, 1972, she married Francis Fisher at St Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He survives. Claudene worked at Wal-Mart as a receiving clerk, besides enjoying outdoor activities and going to Crystal Lake, her favorite place on earth. Claudene loved being a homemaker and caring for her grandchildren whom she believed were gifts from God. Her mothering gift was very very strong. She truly had the God givin gift of helping anyone in need at work or wherever she saw anyone needing practical help. She also liked delivering the City Pages and Buyers Guide for 15 years, where she could be active and meet a lot of people. Claudene had recently started her own home business, which she called Fleece Creations by Claudene. It wasn't too profitable because she gave most of her beautiful creations away to friends and family. She was a volunteer for Christian Records Services, Inc. and National Camps for Blind Children for nearly 18 years. She took blind children and adults to blind camp, counseled and encouraged them with phone calls and also took them to church often. Claudene enjoyed shopping for and helping the blind get furniture if they were moving into the area. She also was her husband's secretary, doing many varied tasks for CRS, Inc. She had recently submitted a photo of a legally blind person in Wausau climbing a forty-five foot climbing wall at the Wisconsin Summer Camp for the Blind at Westfield. It was a contest for people with disabilities doing active things. The person won third place out of 80 entries. The organization out of Milwaukee in celebration of their twenty-fifth year came out with a calendar and this lady was a July feature picture. Claudene was so happy for her. A memorial fund is being set up at Marathon Saving Bank, Wausau in Claudene's memory for bibles for the blind and other free services entitled "Help the Blind See Jesus". Claudene loved the Lord and several months ago in her growing faith began giving ten percent of her income to the Lord's work. Her favorite hymn was "Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb" a song by Fanny Crosby, a blind composer. We look forward in faith to seeing Claudene in the earth made new, Revelation 21:1. "I John saw a new heaven and a new earth... " Besides her husband, Francis, Schofield and parents, Gilbert & Goldie Passow, Lake Tomahawk, she is survived by her children, James Fisher, Wausau and his children, Treyven and Sarabeth; Justin (Jamie Smith) Fisher, Mosinee; mother-in-law, Lucille Fisher, Rothschild. She was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Passow. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Rev. William Bossert will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and again from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Legion in Lake Tomahawk. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
