Clarence C. Wenzel, age 86, Wausau, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Benedictine Living Community, formerly Marywood Center, Wausau.
He was born July 9, 1926 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Anton and Angeline (Putkamer) Wenzel. On October 23, 1948 he married Dorothy Bychinski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2012.
Clarence retired as maintenance supervisor from James River Corporation after 40 years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus George Schreier Council No. 1069, Wausau.
Survivors include his son, Gerard (Maureen) Wenzel, Aurora, Colorado; daughter, Susan Wenzel, Wausau; grandsons, Eric (Breanne), Scott and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Carter; and sisters, Marcella (Roman) Andraska, and Alvina Lensmire, all of Marathon.
Besides his parents and wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by one brother, Simon Wenzel and one sister, Irene Andreschak.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Alan T. Burkhardt will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Knights of Columbus.
