Clarence "Yogi" Wendtland
78, Edgar, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 22, 1928 in Edgar, son of the late Arthur and Marcella (Smith) Wendtland. On February 20, 1952, he married Darlene Weldon at Wuertzburg Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2005.
Throughout his life, Clarence farmed in the Edgar area and hauled milk for many years. Clarence was a founding member of the Rib Falls Lion's Club. Among his many interests, he enjoyed deer hunting, polka dancing, car collecting and attending tractor pulls.
Survivors include, six children, Janice (Steven) Soczka, Jim (Pattie) Wendtland, Larry (Janice) Wendtland, all of Edgar, Lois (Ron) Maldonis, Abbotsford, Gary (Gail) Wendltand, Edgar and Gale (Wayne) Waddle, Lafayette, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Kelly and Amanda Soczka, Jason and Jeff Lemanski, Misti Wendtland, Derek (Crystal) Wendtland, Bradley (Sandy) Wendtland and Kelly (Scott) Townsend; four great grandchildren, Damion and Dakota Wendtland and Shelby and Mackenzie Townsend; and one brother, Floyd (Joyce) Wendtland, Chippewa Falls.
Besides his parents and wife, Darlene, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Wendtland in March of 1996 and Richard Wendtland in December of 2005; and one sister, Mildred Schlichting.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church-High Steeple, town of Wien. Rev. Matthew Christian will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rib Falls Lion's Club.
