Clarence E. Kropp Sr

Clarence E. Kropp Sr. 98, Athens, died Friday February 26, 2010 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Colby. He was born December 24, 1911, in Marble, Minn., son of the late Albert and Louise Kropp. On October 15, 1935, he married Josephine Smola in Athens. She preceded him in death March 17, 2009. Clarence had been employed as a carpenter for many years prior to his retirement. Among his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and crossword puzzles. Survivors include one son, Clarence Jr. (Margie) Kropp, town of Goodrich; two grandsons, Clarence Kropp III, Mundelein, Ill., and Stephen (Renee) Kropp, Libertyville, Ill.; three great grandchildren, Anthony (Leah) Kropp, Grayslake, Ill., Stephen Kropp Jr. and Kristine Kropp, both of Libertyville, Ill.; two great great grandchildren, Tyler and Cameron Kropp; one sister-in-law, Emily Fink, Athens, many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Amelia Swoboda and Clara Smola and three brothers, Lawrence, Alfred and Raymond Kropp. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday March 2, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Andrew Alberts will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
