Clarence P. Hlava

Clarence P. Hlava, 94, 6705 Whippoorwill Road, Rib Mountain, died Thursday July 24, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born June 29, 1909 in Wausau, son of the late John and Anna (Conrad) Hlava. On April 19, 1931 he married Melvina Bricko in Waukegan, Ill. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1975. Clarence had been employed as a line foreman with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation for 42 years, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and traveling. He was a member and past President of the Men's Club of WPSC. Survivors include one son, Donald (Elaine) Hlava, Lufkin, Tex.; three daughters, Jean (Lyle) Schepp, Alamorgordo, N.M., Sister Carol Hlava, O.P., Susan (Harry) Sammann, all of Wausau; 11 grandchildren, Hal Hlava, Debra Riedy, Mark Hlava, Dawn Hlava, Bridget Nyarko, Colleen Sargent-Day, Shannon Hall, Sean Sargent, Tim Sargent, Jeff Sammann, and Kena Blaschka; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one sister, Marge Norton, Wausau; and a special friend, Ruth Moffatt, Apache Junction, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one grandson Michael and 11 brothers and sisters. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again Monday 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau.
