Clara Lydia Ferge, 93, Schofield, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Schofield Assisted Living (formerly, Allison House Assisted Living), under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born July 9, 1918 in Pure Water, Mont., daughter of the late John and Lydia (Hasenjaeger) Lawrence. On January 19, 1946, she married Arthur H. Ferge at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2007.
Before her marriage, Clara was employed at Marathon Rubber Products. She was active in her church, serving as treasurer of the Women's Fellowship, a member of the Golden Agers Group, and treasurer of Chapter One Sunburst Youth Home of Neillsville. Clare was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary Post #388, Wausau. Her hobbies included, baking, cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, traveling, spending time at the family cottage and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include, one daughter, Marilyn (Thomas) Benishek, Schofield; one granddaughter, Nicole Benishek (Jeremy Borchardt), Schofield; one sister, Evelyn Mayer, Palatine, Ill.; one brother, Lenard Lawrence, Motley, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Rubye Lawrence, Wausau and Dorothy Ferge, Rothschild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine Lawrence; and five brothers, Wilbert, Walter, John, Elmer and Ervin Lawrence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. Rev. Larry Treece will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Peace United Church of Christ or the charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Schofield Assisted Living and the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for all the loving care given to Clara.
