Clara C. Ahlquist

Clara C. Ahlquist 80, Edgar, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born December 28, 1923 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late John and Mary (Lepak) Skrzypchak. On November 26, 1940, she married Anton Volhard. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1957. On July 4, 1962, she married Reuben Ahlquist at St. Mary Rectory, Marathon. He survives. Clara was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Edgar, Edgar Bowling League and St. John Parish Council of Catholic Women. Clara enjoyed dancing, playing cards, gardening and was known for her sense of humor. One of the most important things to her was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Reuben Ahlquist, Edgar survivors include two daughters, Janice (Tony) Thurs, Edgar and Donna Otto, Wausau; six grandchildren, David Thurs, Connie (Brad) Hanson, Tammy (Jim) Anderson, Jamie (Luke) Koehler, Jeff (Jann) Otto and Shelly (David) Nelson; nine great grandchildren, Caley and Tessa Thurs, Jacee, Justin & Julia Anderson, Cole and Garrett Hanson, Ashley and Brett Nelson; one brother, Clarence (Janet) Skrzypchak, Niles, Illinois. Besides her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, John and Norbert Skrzypchak and a son-in-law Fred Otto. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. parish vigil Sunday evening at the Edgar funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Parkinson Research or a charity of your choice.
