Christopher D. Surdyk

Christopher D. Surdyk, 36, Wausau died Friday, October 9, 2015 at his home. Chris was born March 28, 1979 in West Allis, the son of Jeanna (Malmquist) Powell and the late Gregory Surdyk. Chris loved music, tinkering with things, motorcycles, tennis and playing pool. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved helping many veterans and friends in need. If he didn't know how, he would Google it. Chris was a self-taught musician and loved to entertain. He was very involved with many charities, especially those for veterans. Chris was very outgoing and extremely funny. He always knew how to put a smile on your face. He has touched many lives and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his mother, Jeanna (Tim) Powell of Montello; special friend, Tina Fink of Wausau; his grandmother, Jean Ann (Butch Webler) Gutmann of Shawano; his brother, Kyle Bartz of Bonduel; his uncles: David (Denise) Malmquist of West Allis, Thomas Malmquist of Milwaukee, Gerald (Sandy) Gutmann of Waupun, and Robert Gutmann of Shawano; his aunt, Linda Surdyk of Milwaukee; and a half-sister, Cheryl Surdyk of Milwaukee. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue Funeral Home. A special escort provided by Souls of Honor, Patriot Honor Guard and Brothers By Choice will depart from Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and arrive at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun at 3 p.m. A memorial service will then take place at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun at 4 p.m. with Rev.
