Christopher "Chris" L. Stencil 51, Edgar, died unexpectedly Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home. He was born July 6, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of Carmon (Melton) Stencil and the late Kenneth Stencil Sr. Chris was a graduate of Athens High School and a supporter of the Athens Alumni. He graduated with his degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was an avid book reader, Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed coin collecting and traveling. Survivors include his mother, Carmon Stencil, Edgar; brother, Kenneth Jr. (Pamela) Stencil, Mt. Horeb and nephews, Zachary, Benjamin and Casey. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. Besides his father, Kenneth, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Lucille Stencil and Richard and Catherine Melton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. There will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service Thursday at the Athens funeral home.
