Christopher R. McCanna, 48, Colby passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield.

He was born March 23, 1977 in Kittanning, PA, son of Larrie McCanna and Michelle McCanna.

Chris graduated from Stevens Point Area High School (SPASH) in 1996. He enjoyed shop classes and athletics through the Wisconsin Special Olympics.

After high school, Chris, worked various jobs in and around the Stevens Point, Plover, Marshfield, Wausau and LaCrosse areas. He lived in New Mexico for awhile before returning to Central Wisconsin.

Chris had continuing health issues throughout the years that eventually required more care which he found at Colonial Health Services in Colby, WI. While there he enjoyed the friendships he created with the staff and other residents.

Chris was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He spent time doing crafts, playing games and enjoyed visiting with family.

Survivors include his parents, Michelle McCanna, Wausau and Larrie McCanna, Plover, his brother, Nicholas McCanna, Muleshoe, TX, his maternal grandmother, Vivian “Jean” Smith, PA and his paternal grandmother, Katherine McCanna, Plover and a niece, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Billman Sr., his paternal grandfather, Clifton McCanna Sr. and his uncle Clifton McCanna Jr.

Private family burial will take place at a later date in Pennsylvania.  A Celebration of Life will held here in Wisconsin and in Pennsylvania at a later date. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
