Chris A. Giles

January 19, 1949 — November 22, 2014

Christine "Chris" Giles, 65, journeyed into eternal life on Saturday November 22, 2014 after gracefully coping with the "uninvited guest" of cancer over the past four years. She died at Hospice House, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born January 19, 1949, daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Lemmer) Stieber. In 1967, she graduated from Marathon High School and from the Green Bay School of Cosmetology in 1968. On August 9, 1969, she married David Giles and together they have been blessed with 45 years of loving marriage, two children and three grandchildren. For Chris, family came first, and she was most comfortable after making others comfortable. Her hairdressing career spanned over 40 years and provided her with many long lasting friendships. She was associated with her best friend Kay Paul from Kay's House of Style for most of those years. Later, she began doing independent hairdressing for the elderly at various elder care facilities in the Wausau area. She received great satisfaction in comforting the elderly, as she helped to lift their spirit through friendship and hairdressing. One of her favorite pastimes was travel, which included recent trips to the Holy Land in Israel, the Panama Canal and Western Europe. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, pan fishing and relaxing at the lake cabin around her flower gardens, as well as crafting and went "all in" for holiday decorating and meals. Her talented alto voice was welcomed by the Wausau Elks Choir. Chris had a strong sensitivity to life and nature in all its formsa
