Chester F. Petroski
88, Wausau, went to be reunited with his wife of 58 years, Vivian, in heaven on Sunday, January 1, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1917 in Stambogh, Mich., son of the late Chester and Anna (Wiercenski) Petroski. On January 18, 1947, he married Vivian Molski in Chicago. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2005.
Chester was a veteran World War II, serving in the US Army and was a life long member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, both of Wausau.
Chester worked building the subway system in Chicago and was a paint colorist until moving to Wausau in 1956. He was employed at Hoffer Paint until his retirement. Chester was a member of the Knights of Columbus George Schreier Council #1069, Wausau. Among his favorite things to do was spending time at their trailer on Madeline Lake.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Tom) Brzezinski, Weston; one son, Chester III (Sue) Petroski, Shippensburg, Pa; two granddaughters, Lynda King, Burbank, Calif. and Meghan Graham, Shippensburg, Pa; one brother, Edward (Betty) Petroski, Skokie, Ill.; four sisters, Lorraine Andre, Kenosha, Delores (Robert) Smith, Rosebury, Ore; Betty Johnson and Janice Petroski, both of Iron River Mich.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Byczski, Iron River, Mich.; very special niece, Resa Petroski, Wausau; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Valenty Byczek; two brothers, Felix and Leo Petroski; three step sisters, Marion, Eleanore and Anastasia seven and step brothers, Robert, Walter, Stanley, Frank, Edward, Valentine and Chet Byczek.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.
There will be a parish rosary at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
The family would like to thank the CNA's at Kennedy Park Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Weston for the care given to Dad, the doctors, nurses and CNA's St. Clare's Hospital, Weston and the loving nurses and CNA's at the Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Jeff Osswald for his care and to Resa for being there for him.
