Charles C. Weiler
92, Athens, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
He was born May 17, 1911 in the town of Bern, son of the late Sebastian and Margaret (Gilles) Weiler. On November 8, 1932 Charles married Sophia Post at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1997.
Charles and Sophia farmed in the town of Bern until their retirement in 1960. During his farming years, Charles graded roads for the town of Bern. He then was a custodian for St. Anthony's for 13 years, retiring in 1970. After retiring for the second time, Charles was a carpenter for many years in the Athens area and still had time to enjoy playing cards and deer hunting.
Survivors include two daughters, Vernell (Herbert Jr.) Rodman, Athens, Eileen (Jerold) Faucher, Marshfield, one son, Eugene (Evelyn) Weiler, Columbus, Ind., 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, three sisters, Rose Gilbertson, Portage, Dorothy Schug, Athens, Mary (Tom) Bina, Virocqua, four brothers, Hank (Rachael) Weiler, Marshfield, Nick (Helen) Weiler, Bill (Edith) Weiler and Clarence (Dolores) Weiler all of Athens.
Besides his wife Sophia, Charles was preceded in death by one grandson.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Heibl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Athens funeral home.
