Charles R. Parlier

Charles R. Parlier 81, died Saturday August 18, 2007 at his home at Sylvan Crossing, Wausau. He was born October 11, 1925, in Flora, Ill., son of the late Charles P. and Amelia (Rex) Parlier. On October 16, 1948, he married Violegene Lepak at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. She preceded him in death April 19, 2005. A veteran of World War II, Charles served in the South Pacific with the US Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388, Wausau and the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. Prior to his retirement, Charles had been employed as a pressman at the former American Can Corp., Wausau. For over 20 years, he served as the Secretary/Treasurer for Union Local 370 of the IGCU. Through the years, he enjoyed many pastimes among them were golfing, league bowling, bird hunting, deer hunting, fishing and coaching Little League. He will be fondly remembered for his lifetime love of singing, love of family, his generousity and for antics that would dub him the family comedian. Special to him was the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. During his time at Sylvan Crossing, Charles frequenly offered his help and assistance to any and all in need. Survivors include his eight children, and their families, John "Jack" (Charlene) Parlier, Merrill and their children, Lee, Scott (Tracey) and Eric (Michelle) Parlier, all of Wausau; Sharon (Dennis) Olmstead and Sharon's son, Tony Geier, all of Appleton; Barry (Pam) Parlier and their children, Jessica (Tim) Klopstein and their children, Megan (Carl) Thompson, all of Wausau; Daniel (Barb) Parlier, Marathon and their children, Dana (Eric) Pease, Wausau, Rachel (Shannon) Butalla, Waukesha and Lynsey (Troy) Seubert, Maple Grove; Ann Marie (Kirt) Schmidt, Wausau and their children, Angela (Phil) Mckeown, Madison, Aimee and Kay Allyson Schmidt, Wausau; Bruce (Jodean) Parlier and their children, Ben, Marie and Diedre Parlier, all of New Berlin; Julie (Jim) Valdes and their children, Nathan and Jennifer Valdes, all of West Bend and Matthew (Sarah) Parlier and their children, John, Charlie, Joseph, Grace, Mary and Cecilia Parlier, all of Milwaukee, 15 great grandchildren, one brother, William Parlier, Concord, Calif. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Parlier, two grandchildren, Peter and Allyson and his siblings, Mary Jane Mattson, Rex and Ruth Reedich and Tehkla Parlier. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Weds. August 22, 2007 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW and American Legion. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Weds. From 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
