Charles D. Klein

Charles "Chuck" D. Klein 75, Rothschild, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. He was born July 1, 1933 in Wausau, son of the late Carl and Marie (Fell) Klein. On June 18, 1955 he married Janice Dahm at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. For more than 30 years Chuck was the owner/operator of the former Modern Shoe in Wausau. As a simple man he cherished the small things in life like being a member of the Lions Club, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, trout fishing, taking his family on road trips and always sharing some humor to those he knew. Chuck was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all that had the chance to know him. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife Janice Klein, Rothschild, his children, Steve (Shelly) Klein, Shoreview, Minnesota, John (Petrece) Klein, Savoy, Illinois, Lisa Klein, Schofield, David (Melissa) Klein, Kronenwetter and Carla (Daniel) Fus, Menasha, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Grosskopf. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Oratory, Wausau. The Rev. Henry Fragelli will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Charles's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
