Charles D. Jojade Sr.
81, 1530 Pearson Street, Wausau, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born September 11, 1924 in Wausau, son of the late John Sr. and Hilda (Taege) Jojade. He married Florence Wiesneske on September 28, 1946 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Chuck served his country during World War II in the United States Army in the 303 Division Ordinance B. and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1946. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, serving as past president of the honor guard. He was also a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, both of Wausau.
For many years, Chuck was a carpenter superintendent in Wausau. Among some of the buildings he proudly helped build was Wausau Insurance Company, Wausau Hospital and various churches.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Jojade, Wausau; one son, Charles (Lee) Jojade Jr., Wausau; two daughters, Barbara Jo (Denny) Gray, Coral Springs, Fla. and Lori Ann (Mike) Turk, Wilton, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Tracy (Tim) Fritz, Madison, Denny (Soraya) Gray Jr., Coral Springs, Fla., Brian Jojade, Wausau, Andy Gray, Coral Springs, Fla., Beth (Jake) Grabow, Mosinee, Pam Jojade, Wausau, Brianna, Brandon and Preston Turk, all of Wilton, Conn.; five great grandchildren, Sarah Grabow, Amber Fritz, Grace Grabow, Megan Fritz and Isaac Grabow; one brother, John A (Virginia) Jojade, Wausau, who was with him all through his stay at Hospice House; and three sisters, Myra Bandy, Rothschild, Grace Radtke and Nola Lonsdorf, both of Wausau and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Jojade.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Full military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post # 388. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home followed by a VFW Honor Guard memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of St. Anne or Hospice House.
