Charles "Chuck" E. Burger, 70, Wausau, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Chuck was ill for five years prior to his stem cell bone marrow transplant, and survived for another three years. He was born July 11, 1943 in Merrill, son of the late Charles and Verna (Huven) Burger. On April 1, 1967, he married Jacquelyn Cox in Madison. She survives. He was also the former Fire Chief in Brokaw and was Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 427. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing, fly-tying, reading and woodworking. He also liked to embroider, which was a relaxing and comforting activity for him. Most of all, he loved spending time with his six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy and the loves of his life. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jackie Burger, Wisconsin Rapids; three children, Leo (Annie) Burger, Fitchburg, Lisa (Matt) Page, Elizabethtown, Ky. and Jennifer (Lon) Groth, Wausau; six grandchildren, Stephen and Michael Zemke, Jacob and John Page, Ezra and Eleanor Burger; and one grandchild on the way; one sister, Sharon (Allen) Seubert, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one Godson, Chris Seubert; and his special four-legged friend "Lucy".
