Cecelia J. Welbes 92, 6605 Bungaloo Road, Athens, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Medford under Hope Hospice Care. She was born December 29, 1913 in Athens, daughter of the late Andrew and Eleanor (Grintjes) Vogl. On December 28, 1946 she married George Welbes at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1971. Cecelia was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, reading, baking and spending countless hours in her gardens. Survivors include her three sons, Mark Welbes, George (Pamela) Welbes and John (Clarice) Welbes, all of Athens, eight grandchildren and two sisters, Angeline (Oliver) Redden, Pierre, South Dakota and Irene Burns, Columbus, Ohio. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. The funeral mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Athens funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
