Catherine “Cathy” M. Burnett, 75, Rothschild passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at UW Health University Hospital in Madison.
The family would like to thank Dr. Govari and his staff at UW Health Carbone Cancer Center in Madison. They would also like to thank Dr. Peterson and his staff at Aspirus Wausau Cancer Center.
She was born on July 1, 1950 in Wausau, daughter of the late Leonard and Alice (Kordus) Sattler. On May 19, 1973 she married Dale Burnett Jr. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Rothschild. He survives.
Her working career included staying at home raising her children, Drott/JI Case, Professional Consultants and Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home, before retiring from the YMCA.
Her hobbies included a love of traveling with her husband, spending quality time with her grandchildren, reading, golfing, yearly vacations up-north in Tomahawk with her family, spending time on the pontoon at her lake home “camper” on Mayflower Lake, playing cards and spending time with her many friends.
She is survived by her loving husband Dale Burnett Jr. of Rothschild. Her 3 children, Lori Heitkamp of St. Michael, MN, Andrew (Melissa) Burnett of Rothschild and Brian (Dawn) Burnett of Marinette. Her 8 grandchildren: Zachary, Brenden Heitkamp of St. Michael, MN. Melanie Burnett of Blaine, MN, Trevor Burnett of North Fond du Lac, Carter, Devin, Dexter and Miranda Burnett, all of Rothschild and her siblings, Sally (Morgan) Holzapfel of Nashville, TN, Peggy (Scott) Smith of Rothschild, and Joel Sattler of Rothschild.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Sattler.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Friday, May 1, 2026 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Weston. Private family burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UW Health Carbone Cancer Research. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
