Carroll E. Tilton
89, formerly of Stevens Point, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born February 20, 1921 in Duluth, Minn., son of the late Leonard and Josephine (Gudleski) Tilton. In 1944 he married Evelyn Zeleski in Stevens Point. She preceded him in death.
Carroll worked for many years as an over the road truck driver for Glendenning Trucking and later as a custodian for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. He enjoyed music and could play the organ, harmonica and accordion. Carroll learned to fly a plane at age 63 and loved cars and trucks, owning 51 different vehicles during his lifetime.
Survivors include his son, James C. (Mary Jo) Tilton, Wausau; grandchildren, Alana (Gregory) Hintz, Stoughton, Bettina (Dr. Martin Schilling) Tilton, Homburg/Saar, Germany, Nanette Plano and Travis (Nicolette) Tilton, both of Wausau; great grandchildren, Anya Hintz, Julip, Enya and Kierra Schilling; one brother, Kenneth (Jane) Tilton Sr., Baltimore, Maryland; one sister, Joan (Gerald) Bolich, Hurley; three sisters-in-law, Sister Loretta Zeleski, Stevens Point, Jane Tilton, Idaho and Rose Tilton, Tomah, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard, William, Jack and Eugene Tilton and one sister-in-law, Dolores Tilton.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Church of St. Anne, 700 W. Bridge Street, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point. Friends may call Sunday from 3 - 6p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
