Carolyn A. Popp, 94, Athens, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 22, 1920 in Algonquin, Illinois, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Jensen) Andersen. On June 7, 1941 she married Richard Popp in Dundee, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2005. Carolyn moved to the area from Delavan in 1971. She was an avid Brewer fan attending many games and watching many at home. She enjoyed family gatherings, reunions and always did the daily jumble in the newspaper. She is survived by two sons, Richard Popp Jr. and Gary L. Popp Sr.; one daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Skurzewski; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Rothlisberger, DeKalb, Ill. and Ethyl Gustafson, Tulsa, Okla.; and one brother, Frank Andersen, Walworth. Besides her parents and husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by one brother, Norman. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Teri A. Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Village Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
