Caroline A. Pieper

Caroline A. Pieper, 92, of Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born on January 14, 1933 in Bevent to the late William and Doris (Treba) Nigbur.  On December 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to David Pieper at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wausau and he preceded her in death in 2009.

In addition to raising children and supporting her family at home, Caroline also worked in some local offices helping with clerical work.  Together, David and Caroline enjoyed skiing, bowling, and golfing.  Caroline was very active with her church and as a volunteer at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.  She loved to knit, crochet Afghans for children, playing Bridge in clubs as well as many national tournaments earning Master Points.  For many years she enjoyed her time in Florida during the cold Wisconsin winters, and at the “Cottage” during summers.

Survivors include her children, Bruce (Emily) Pieper of Monico, Brian (Olivia Jones) Pieper of Madison, and Sue (David) Baacke of Merrill; four grandchildren, Karen Bridges, Christopher Baacke, Andrew (Cassie) Baacke, and Natalie Pieper; two great-grandchildren, Bo Baacke and Bri Baacke; siblings, Larry (Beverly) Nigbur, Wally (Jean) Nigbur, Connie Stanke and Janice Kreibich;and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; brother, Bill; and sister, Lucille.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark Street, Wausau, with Rev. Allan Slowiak presiding.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church.  Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
