Caroline M. Koehler

Caroline M. Koehler, 86, Wausau, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Benedictine Living Community, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born March 3, 1929 in Wausau, daughter of the late George and Irene (Frank) Schultz. On February 14, 1953, she married James Koehler at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2005. Caroline began working for Woolworth's Department Store and quit her job after having children. After her boys went off to school, she went back to Woolworth's where she enjoyed working as manager of the lunch counter. She also worked as a bookkeeper for WRIG Radio for many years. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing cards, bingo, spending time up North at their cottage and "Game Day" with her brother and sisters. She was also an excellent baker and was well known for making her famous cheesecake. Survivors include, two sons, Tom Koehler, Wausau and Randy (Connie) Koehler, Schofield; and three siblings, Marion (Don) Froemming, Roger (Barbara) Schultz and Lois Schultz, all of Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, James, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Zach Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Benedictine Living Community, staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the excellent care given to Caroline.
