Caroline Hunger

Caroline Hunger, 98, Wausau, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. Caroline was born April 14, 1910 in Brokaw, daughter of Louis and Selma (Arnold) Brookhyser. Caroline was a life-long resident of the Wausau area and a 1928 graduate of Wausau High School. Prior to her retirement, Caroline was Deputy Register of Deeds for Marathon County. Caroline lived a full and vibrant life. She cherished spending time with family and friends. She was always doing good deeds for others. She regularly drove her friends to appointments, errands, and to her many bridge games. Birthday and anniversary cards were never forgotten. She was proud of and encouraging toward every member of her family. Caroline was always productive and was employed part-time well into her 80's. Caroline is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Cindy) Hunger, Naperville, Ill., Richard (Judith) Hunger, Elkhart, Ind, six grandchildren, Steven (Susan) Immel, Michael (Coreen) Immel, Julie (John) Painter, Chris Hunger, Emily Hunger, Rob Hunger, seven great grandchildren and son-in-law, Val Immel. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Hunger, her daughter, Carolyn Immel, her sister Dorothy Brookhyser, and her brother and sister in-law, Dudley and Ginnie Brookhyser. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 221 S. 28th Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
