Caroline ''Carrie'' Eckardt

February 7, 1909 — January 6, 2002

Caroline 'Carrie' Eckardt 92, 1821 N. 4th Ave., Wausau, died Sunday January 6, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born February 7, 1909 in Birnamwood, daughter of the late John and Anna (Foelker) Ecker. On April 2, 1929 she married Anton 'Tony' Eckardt in Aniwa. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1989. Caroline was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and flower gardening. Playing the organ was one of her favorite pasttimes, she had played at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood and while she was a resident at Marywood Convalescent Center, she was regularly scheduled to play on their entertainment calander. Survivors include two sons, Jack (Pat) Eckardt and Bob (Rosemary) Eckardt, all of Merrill, one daughter, Carol (Jerry) Goetsch, Largo, Florida, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Joseph, one great-grandson, Jordan Eckardt and a granddaughter-in-law, Lynnise Eckardt. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Weds. January 9, 2002 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Philomena Cemetery, Birnamwood. Friends may call on Weds. from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, is in charge of arrangments. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the McKillip Family Life Center or the charity of your choice.
