Carol J. Paska, 85, of Rib Mountain, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after battling influenza and pneumonia.
She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Margaret and Calvin Taylor and was a 1958 graduate of Green Bay West High School. Carol attended UW-Oshkosh and later graduated cum laude from UW-Green Bay with a B.A. degree in art. She married James Paska in Kewaunee, Wisconsin on June 5, 1965. She taught art classes in Wausau at area schools and was involved with the establishment of Wausau’s Center for the Visual Arts. For several years, she shared her enthusiasm for art as a docent at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau.
Carol was an animal lover, genealogist, loyal Packer fan and stockholder, enjoyed listening to Mozart, and reading mysteries. In her retirement years, she and her husband joined friends traveling in their fifth-wheel RV in Arizona, Texas, and many other places, often with the HitchHiker’s RV Club. She loved and celebrated her granddaughter’s achievements.
Survivors include her husband, James Paska of Wausau, WI; son, Jay (Michelle) Paska of St. Paul, MN; and granddaughter, Twyla Paska of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Margaret Taylor; and brother, Robert Taylor.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Elm Grove Cemetery, Town of Maple Grove, Shawano County, Wisconsin.
