Carol Mae Mertes

Carol M. Mertes, 66, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born July 13, 1938 in Wausau daughter of the late Gustave and Della (Tesch) Markowski. On February 15, 1958 she married Warren Mertes at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. He survives. Survivors include her husband, Warrem Mertes, Wausau; one son, Dean Mertes, Antigo; two grandchildren, Cassie Mertes and Shawn Mertes; one sister, Marion Steffen, Wausau; two brothers, Gustave Markowski, Colorado and LeRoy (Cindy) Markowski, Rib Mountain. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gregory Mertes and daughter-in-law Rhonda Mertes. Private funeral services were held Friday, August 27, 2004 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated. The family wishes to greatfully acknowledge Dr. S. L. Blonsky and Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the kindness and care given Carol and family during her illness.
