Carol J. Edelburg, 91, Wausau, beloved wife and mother entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Mountain Terrace Senior Living with her husband Leonard by her side.

She was born July 8, 1935 in Wausau, daughter of the late George and Marie (Hafeman) Lewitzke. Carol was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. She married Leonard “Lenny” Edelburg on June 12, 1954, and together they raised five children.

Carol was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church as the former Vice President of the Ladies Aid, member of the Zion Church Concordia Guild, member of the Zion Young at Heart and a member of the Church Choir.

Carol worked for the Wausau School District in Food Service until her retirement. She was a member of the Franklin School Mother’s Club, YWCA member and was Lieutenant for the Franklin School Safety Patrol which earned a trip to West Allis, WI.

Some of her favorite pastimes included, quilting, baking, watching the Green Bay Packers, playing bingo, dining out, and traveling to Texas and Arizona and spending winters in Florida. Carol especially loved spending time with her family.

Something to know about Carol, she did not get her driver’s license until age 62. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Lenny; five children, Lori (Randy) Nest, Wausau, Ricky Edelburg, Park Falls, Russell Edelburg (Diana Strausberger), Lake Tomahawk, Alan (Karla) Edelburg, Rothschild and Craig (Riki) Edelburg, Wausau; eight grandchildren, Erica (Jason) Taylor, Adam Barthels, Bradley Barthels, Danielle Johnson, Rachel (Josh) Baerwald, Ashley (Chad) Kumm, Indi Edelburg and Christine Edelburg; nine great-grandchildren, Alfonzo Barthels, Carly Barthels, Michael and Austin Kumm, Haisley and Riley Jo Baerwald, Loretta Edelburg and Marino and Justin Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Sue; and four siblings, George, Harold and Dale Lewitzke and Marion Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Lunch will be provided after the service. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in memory of Carol.
