Carmen O. Kramer
81, Wausau, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Aspirus Hospice House.
She was born June 21, 1929 in Aniwa, daughter of the late Norman and Edna Catherine (Edgell) Wincentsen.
In her younger years, Carmen worked at the former Hotel Wausau as a hostess and waitress. She also lived in Safford, Arizona for four years, where she enjoyed working at a bath house and trading post. Carmen was a member of the Hogarty Presbyterian Ladies Aid and a member of the Christian Women's Club. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed playing scrabble, reading, crossword puzzles, giving gifts to family and friends and most of all, spending time with her family.
Survivors include, six children, Beryl "Cookie" Thompson, Ross (Cheryl) Halbesleben , Steven Halbesleben, all of Wausau, Candace Campbell, Madison, Kelly (Linda) Halbesleben, Antigo and Robin (Jolene) Halbesleben, Menomonee Falls; three step-children, Kathleen "Peachy" Schultz, Wausau, Karen Klug, Marathon and Peter Kramer, Palatine, Ill.; 39 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Colleen "Sis" Wincentsen, Madison; and one brother, Donald Wincentsen, Weston.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore Halbesleben; her second husband, Leonard Kramer; her significant other, Leon Burger; one grandson, Isaac Halbesleben; and one brother, Wayne Wincentsen.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 from Noon until 3:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
