Carlton L. Zager
80, 3312 Terrace Court #14, Wausau, died Sunday June 11, 2006 at Harmony Living Center, Wausau.
He was born September 6, 1925 in Oshkosh, son of the late Leo and Anna (Wickert) Zager. Carlton and June were married for 30 years until her death in 1994.
Carlton worked as a carpenter for more than 25 years and eventually pursued his dream of being an electrical engineer with the NASA Program. He worked specifically on the Viking Project from 1967 until 1976 and also with the engineering phase on the Lunar Landing Module. Carlton was also very proud of his membership in the American Theatre Organ Society.
He proudly served his country during WWII with the 340th Signal Corp. Wing in the United States Army achieving many service medals including the American Theatre Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his four daughters, Carla (Jim) Miller, Mesa, Arizona, Carol (Johnny) Haydock, Junction City, Charlotte (Bill) Mihalek, Washburn and Cassandra (Derek) Beuth, Oshkosh, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Patterson, one grandson, Bryan Mihalek, one great grandson, Christopher Kettner and three sisters Sylvia Pesch, Lucille Olp and Marion Peterson.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Chaplain Mary Pat Campbell will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Association.
