Brian J. Schopf 36, Tallahassee, Florida, formerly of Wausau, died Sunday August 5, 2001 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born November 10, 1964 in St. Paul, Minn., son of James Schopf, Minneapolis and Margaret 'Bonnie' (Scherr) Chase, Minnetonka, Minn. Brian attended Newman High School, Wausau and currently was a part-time teacher at Florida State University in Tallahasse while he pursued his Doctorate in Family Psychology. He loved sports and enjoyed working with children's sports leagues. Survivors include his father, James Schopf, Minneapolis, his mother and step-father, Margaret 'Bonnie" (Bob) Chase, Minnetonka, Minn., one sister, Jennifer (Tom) Martin, Minnetonka, Minn., two brothers, Brad Schopf, Minneapolis, Bill Schopf, California, three nephews and his paternal grandmother, Virginia Schopf, Wausau. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Herbert Schopf and his maternal grandparents, Martin and Margaret Scherr. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 7, 2001 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, Minn. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
