Brenda Irene Byron Janke, 58, Wausau, passed on Thursday, July 6, 2017, in Crandon, Wisconsin.
She was born November 3, 1958, in Marquette, Michigan, daughter of William and Ida (Haanpa) Byron. On January 3, 1987, she married James Janke at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Brenda graduated from Waupun High School in 1977. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point receiving her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Home Economics Education.
For a number of years, Brenda served Central Wisconsin as the Family Living Agent with the University of Wisconsin - Extension, a position she enjoyed greatly. In her free time, her talents were expressed through crafting, sewing and knitting. Through her passion for reading, she met Jim at the Janke Book Store and that chapter of her life was written. Brenda also appreciated the fine arts and was a frequent patron of the Grand Theater. Gardening, singing, and spending time up north at the family cabins were favorite pastimes for her as well.
Survivors include her parents, William and Ida Byron, Waupun, WI, her husband, James Janke, Wausau, two daughters, Lana Janke, Pensacola, FL, Emma (Cody Buckli) Janke, Wausau, two brothers, Kraig (Kathy) Byron, Oregon, WI, and their children, Colin and Chloe; Lance (Alexia) Byron, Costa Rica, two sisters-in-law, Jane (David) Johnson, Wausau and their daughter, Sarah Johnson; Anne (Terry) Huddleston, Franklin, TN, and their family, Kate (Jonathan) Douillard and their son, Hudson, Elizabeth Huddleston and Mary Huddleston. Brenda was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Delores Janke. Brenda's new puppy, Finn, survives.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 930 Edgewood Road, Wausau, Wisconsin 54403. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established or give to a foundation of your choice. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
