Blanche L. Schumacher
88, Wausau, died Tuesday August 29, 2006 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born November 4, 1917, daughter of the late Jacob and Ester (Shope) Moate. On July 6, 1935, she married Ray McEwen. He preceded her in death in 1954. She married Ralph Schumacher on September 20, 1958. He survives.
In 1979, she retired from Wausau Papers, Brokaw. She enjoyed her flower gardens, family, her dog, "Rowdy" and the many kind employees at North Star Casino.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Schumacher, Wausau, a daughter, Elaine (Don) Hlava, Lufkin, Texas, brother-in-law, John (Mary Lou) McEwen, Mesa, Ariz., sister-in-law, Patsy Moate, Wausau, 4 grandchildren, Debra (Don) Riedy, Texas, Hal Hlava, Calif., Mark (Margaret) Hlava, Rothschild, Dawn Hlava, Wausau, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She has been truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents and husband, Ray McEwen, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas McEwen, brother, Sam Moate and grandson, Michael Hlava.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. John W. Meachen will officiate. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
