Beulah Sweet

Beulah "Betty" Sweet of Midway Blvd., Wausau, died October 22, 2004. She was born November 19, 1914 in Wheaton, Minn., daughter of Esther and Christ Rear. She married Glenn A. Sweet, Sr. in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1978. Beulah graduated from high school in Eau Claire, with honors in music and gymnastics. She was an excellent swimmer, winning ribbons and medals for Junior Girls diving and swimming at McDonalds Pool in 1935 and 1936. As a member of the American Red Cross for 85 years, she traveled the United States and Europe. In 1961, she was capped and pinned as an American Red Cross Volunteer. In 1987, when the new addition was put on the Wausau Y.M.C.A., Beulah was the main speaker for the Red Cross Program. She had just arrived home from volunteering in Okinawa when her son was a Marine. Beulah volunteered at Marathon Health Care Center and Colonial Manor in Wausau for 25 years. Beulah was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 70 years, and enjoyed teaching Sunday School in 1937-1939. She was a member of the women of the church and the Martha Circle. Survivors include a daughter, Loisrae; a son, Glenn Arthur; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Buelah's wishes were to be cremated and united with the earth at the families former summer home by Rhinelander. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Greg and Sherry Billberg will officiate. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
