Betty J. Wimmer, 94, died March 15, 2022 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born February 10, 1928 in Fond Du Lac, WI to the late Rena F. Fries. She attended schools in Appleton and married Leroy H. “Bud” Schultz on February 24, 1949 in Appleton. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1970. She married Rupert G. Wimmer on July 7, 1973 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1998.
Betty was a charter member of the disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary in Wausau. She was state commander of the disabled American Veteran’s from 1946-1977 and worked and held offices at the national level and was elected the National Commander of the DAVA from 1985-1986. She was also a member of the Purple Heart Auxiliary and the American Legion. Betty loved and respected all veterans knowing of their sacrifices and she held a knowledge of all the benefits they deserved. Betty and her late husband Rupert were well known and loved throughout the community of veterans especially disabled vets and their families.
Betty had a huge love of animals especially her cats she had through the years and her current fur grand babies Jake and Beau.
Survivors include her son, Craig (Kelley) Schultz, Wausau.
As per Betty's wishes, no services will be held.
