Betty A. Tietz

January 24, 1928 — December 3, 2016

Betty A. Tietz, 88, Wausau died Saturday, December 3, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Rennes, Weston. She was born January 24, 1928 in Wausau, WI. She lived in Wausau most of her life and graduated from Wausau High School in 1946. She married Clifford F. Tietz, May 28, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. They were married for 65 years. She was an avid reader always having a book in her hand or nearby on her end table. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. In the early years, she was active in the Mother's Club at Franklin Elementary School, and enjoyed sewing costumes for school programs such as the Operetta or Stunt Night. Later she found interest in quilting and certainly had an eye for color and detail in quilting patterns. Family vacations were up north at the cottage, playing Yahtzee or cards with her children and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed traveling, having gone on two trips to Hawaii and many bus trips with the traveling girls. She also enjoyed special vacations to St. Ignace, MI to visit with family. She fulfilled her dream of working in a hospital when she became a Nursing Assistant in the 1970's and began working at Wausau Hospital North. She will be remembered for her dark chocolate fudge and keeping the tradition of making Swedish Meatballs at Christmas time. She is survived by her four children: Karen (Thomas) Ohrmundt, Patricia (Duane) Bricko, Sally (David) Konkol, and Anders Tietz (Judith Miller), all of Wausau; seven grandchildren, Tim Ohrmundt, Carrie Adams, Chris Ohrmundt, Elizabeth Hack, Annie Hack, Susan Hack, and Leah Konkol; and eight great grandchildren, Brenna, Brendan, Jack, Grace, Chloe, Logan, Erika and Evan. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia (Albert) Reissman. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her parents, Sylvia and William Johnson, infant son John, her brothers Lyle and Lee Johnson, and a sister Loretta Seidler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 5304 N. 44th Avenue, town of Maine. The Rev. Dan Sire will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
