Betty J. Sandholm

Betty J. Sandholm 84, Wausau, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 under the care of her loving family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home. She was born November 17, 1921 in Wausau, daughter of the late Edward and Mattie (Petersen) Hunger. On June 9, 1941 she married Rubert Sandholm in Dubuque, Iowa. He survives. After raising her family, Betty worked in the Financial Services Department at Wausau Insurance Co. for over 17 years, until her retirement. Some of Betty's favorite pastimes were reading, crocheting and bird watching. Above all things in life she cherished the time together with her family and enjoyed the relaxing days spent up north at the cottage. Survivors include her husband, Rubert "Sandy" Sandholm, Wausau, her children, Sue (Edward) Richards, Wausau, Tim (Martha) Sandholm, Merrill, Jan (Bruce) Wetzel, Wausau, Kathy (Tom) Schumacher, Wausau, eight grandchildren, Chris (Rick) Walters, Cheryl (Mark) Richards-Hines, Beth and Lisa Sandholm, Eric and Holly Wetzel and April and Lindsay Schumacher, four great grandchildren, Kelsey and Allyson Walters and Tyler and Brianna Hines, along with one sister-in-law, Caroline Hunger, Wausau and two nephews. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one brother LeRoy Hunger and one niece, Carolynlee Immel. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
