Betty Plautz

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Plautz, 87, Wausau, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Copperleaf House 1 on Lili Lane in Schofield, under the care of Interim Hospice. She was born August 7, 1926 in Wausau, daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Miabach) Reich. On April 19, 1952, she married Robert C. Plautz in Menominee, Michigan. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1999. Betty owned and operated the former Fleur de lis Beauty Salon in Wausau for many years. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed music, especially polka music, watching the Lawrence Welk show and swimming with the Dolphins Group at the YMCA. Betty was also a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include, two step-sons, Gary Plautz and Patrick Plautz, both of Oregon; nieces and nephews, Gary (Lucy Hollar) Reich, Mole Lake, Sharry (Bob) Wells, Oklahoma, Ann Reich, Weston, Richard (Lynn) Reich, Kronenwetter and Dawn Troyer, Wausau; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Raymond Reich; two nephews, Ronald Reich and Richard Troyer; and four great-nephews, Kip Troyer, Paul Blocynski, Peter Blocynski and Mark Reich. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. David Bruener will preside. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Betty's family to be donated to the Alzheimer's Association and St. Michael Catholic Church.
