Betty Jean Nikolai

Betty Jean Nikolai, 64, Mosinee, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center, Weston.

She was born June 29, 1959 in Antigo, daughter of the late Elmer and Jeanette (Krieger) Drew.  On August 11, 1979, she married Gary Nikolai at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild.  He survives.

Betty worked at many different jobs throughout her life.  For 20 years, she owned and operated Ride Rite LLC and loved teaching students how to ride a motorcycle and be safe.  She lived in Wisconsin Rapids for about 10 years, where she was a member of the Homebuilders Association and a member of St. Lawrence Parish.

Survivors include, her husband of 44 years, Gary; son, Ben Nikolai; sister, Mary Koleta; two brothers-in-law, David (Myra) Nikolai and Bob Nikolai; sister-in-law, Theresa King; and nieces and nephews who all had many good memories of their time spent with Betty.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Albert Drew; brother-in-law, Philip Nikolai; and her in-laws, Philip and Margaret Nikolai.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.  Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Betty gave the gift of life through organ donation.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Betty’s memory.
