Betty A. Howe, 90, Wausau, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her home.
She was born August 27, 1926 in Wausau, daughter of the late Jacob and Gertrude (Denfeld) Heybl. On December 15, 1945, she married Eugene "Fritz" Howe at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1992. She then married William Howe on April 26, 1997 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1998.
For 25 years, Betty worked as a telephone operator for the Wisconsin Telephone Company and later worked as a receptionist for Dr. C.C. Krasowski for 20 years until her retirement.
For many years, Betty was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Red Hat Ladies and the St. Matthew's Ladies Council. She was very active as a volunteer for Aspirus Wausau Hospital and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitch, bowling, playing cards and cribbage. She traveled extensively with her husband and also enjoyed many trips with family and friends.
Survivors include, two daughters, Jean (Joe) Rader, Wausau and Barbara (Roy) Aschbrenner, Little Chicago; four grandchildren, Jamie (Tracey Kempf) Rader, Wausau, Joe (Lindsey Schulz) Rader, Wausau, Todd (Paula) Aschbrenner, town of Maine and Brett (Laurie) Aschbrenner, Hazelhurst; five great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Cole, Ian, Ava and William; one sister, Sister Laurice Heybl FSPA, LaCrosse; brother-in-law, Kenneth Pazdernik, Rhinelander and sister-in-law, Pat Heybl, California.
Besides her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jacob "Jack" Heybl; and two sisters, Audrey Reetz and Cecilia Pazdernik.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Dan Thelen will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
