Bette Jane Gajewski

Bette J. Gajewski, 83, Wausau, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Azura Memory Care, Rib Mountain.

She was born May 22, 1940 in Wausau, daughter of the late Victor and Evelyn (Rader) Schuster.  On August 29, 1958, she married Richard Gajewski at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau.  He preceded her in death on February 23, 2024.

Bette was a seamstress for many years and owned and operated Bette’s Bridal Boutique in Wausau for over 30 years.  Her favorite pastimes included, sewing, gardening, canning and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include, two children, Mark (Lynn) Gajewski, Wausau and Cynthia (Brian) Charais-Greely, Appleton; her niece, Lisa Rennie, who Bette thought of as her daughter; three grandchildren, Ryan (Kimberly) Gajewski, Nick (Chantel) Charais and Nathan (Amanda) Charais; five great-grandchildren, Liam, Aiden, Alexis, Cameron and Madelyn; four siblings, Mary Lou Albert, Nancy Matis, Joan (Michael) Alters and Timothy (Bernice) Schuster; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Schuster.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau.  Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
