Bertha Hett Schilling 96, 720 Plumer Street, Wausau, died Monday, November 10, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born December 25, 1906 in Wausau, daughter of the late Benedict and Elizabeth (Odenweller) Hett. On June 18, 1930 she married Arthur A. Schilling Sr. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death April 17, 1997. Bertha was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member at the former St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau and was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, St. Cecelia Court. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Beth Caro, South San Francisco, Calif., two sons, William B. Schilling and Arthur A. (Sandra) Schilling, all of Wausau, two grandchildren, Randi (Bryant) Klos, Onalaska, ReNae (Jobe) Nachman, Phoenix, Ariz., four great-grandchildren, Matthew & Emilie Klos and Alexandra & Michael Nachman, one brother, Benedict Hett, Cincinnati, Ohio, one sister, Helen (Harold) Bergh, New Berlin, and a sister-in-law, Veronica Schilling, Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Karl and Norbert Hett, two sisters, Teresa Gazdecki and Elizabeth Fenimore. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. The family wishes to thank Cathy and Linda Fosick and the staff of Cedar Creek Manor for the kind and compassionate care given to Bertha during her stay at the Manor. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Comfort Care and Hospice Services and the Palliative Care Unit at Wausau Hospital for their care of Bertha during her last few days.
